![]() The mountain fortress of Salamadastron is under threat from what at first seems could be one of the very best Redwall villains, wildcat Ungatt Trunn, brother of Verdauga Greeneyes who appeared in Mossflower. Lord Brocktree is the grandfather of Bella of Brockhall, the badger in Mossflower and was mentioned several times in that book. Lord Brocktree, published in 2000 (those dates are important), was the next book following The Legend of Luke and is the first book chronologically in the series (I think it still is anyway – I still haven’t read any others written since yet). And I promise to review some movies and games soon too. After finishing Lord Brocktree I took a little break from my Redwall-athon by reading The Borrowers, so that will be reviewed next. Okay this is the last one for the time being, at least until I’ve read Oucast of Redwall. ![]()

![]() ![]() However, Mozart’s excursions into sacred music should not be underestimated as his compositions are solemn, mighty, and outstanding. Mozart is universally regarded as a giant in music’s history and, indeed, his operas and piano concertos represent his most admired works. While such details have relevance from a historical perspective, the Requiem in D minor remains an undoubted masterwork and a shining example of sacred music. The story of its completion gave birth to a plethora of puzzling and almost fictional stories however, evidence shows that two composers, Eybler and Franz Xaver Süssmayr, were involved in the final drafting of the work beyond any doubts (Taylor, 2019). When, on December 5, 1791, Mozart died, the Requiem was incomplete. The Requiem was commissioned by Count Franz von Walsegg-Stuppach to commemorate the wife, who had departed earlier that year. Mozart started to work on the Requiem in D minor in 1791 while writing two operas, La Clemenza di Tito and The Magic Flute. ![]() ![]() The Old Man and the Sea is still under copyright protection in America, but it lapsed into the public domain in Canada in 2011. ![]() First sale only applies to copies “lawfully made.” Counterfeits, however, can still be barred at the border. First sale, the ability to resell a copyrighted work without asking the author for permission, trumps copyright’s importation restrictions. Yet when the Supreme Court decided a Thai grad student could import foreign editions of English-language textbooks, it approved of the latter booksellers’ international arbitrage. Provisions of the Copyright Act bar both. When consumers purchase books through sites like Amazon, anonymous third-party sellers fill the orders. ![]() ![]() But here's the problem with writing a book in reverse (yes, you start with the final chapter and then back in time to the penultimate chapter, and so on, until the book ends with chapter 1), you have to describe your characters during the climax, which makes it really awkward and frankly, pretty stupid. You see-how can a reader fully understand the situation of a kidnapping scene without knowing about the breasts of the mother of the kidnapped girl? At least, as a guy, I can excuse the impartial observer who notices mommy's abundant breasts-he's got no skin in the game, after all. Worry not, intrepid reader! We find out that mom has "abundant breasts" on the next page. Not one of them would think about sex or attraction to a man when their child is missing and in the hands of a monster. The book starts with a mother waiting to hear news of whether her kidnapped daughter is safe, dead, maimed, hurt, healthy, happy? How does she spend this time? Assessing how "fit" the guy waiting with her is and thinking about romantic times she had with another character who is out there trying to rescue her daughter. ![]() The inattention to detail by this author is a real problem for me. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The prince’s honor has him quickly aiming for her throat. Putting the text in its historical context (the fact that Freud was writing it after World War I and during the early rise of Hitler’s Germany), could lead to more specific and situated conversations about the impact of world events on the development of philosophy and art and, equally, ways philosophy and art can help make sense of disturbing contemporary events. These are all topics that present themselves in the text alone. At its core, the book invites a debate about basic human nature-are we capable of transcending aggression? Is our core hostile and selfish? in the background as trivialities” but which are also “useless” and “with no practical value whatever.” About love. But the book itself provides so many opportunities for debate-about religion, which Freud considers a “mass delusion.” About the Arts, which are not something that anyone “would care to put.
